This place is hands down amazing. I don't need to write a review. JUST GO.

......Okay, I'll write one anyway.

First thing when you walk in you will notice how clean and aesthetically pleasing this place is. You will also be greeted in a very friendly way, warm smile by the owner. I talked to him a lot, actually, and got to know him a bit. And as the reviews below said, he is extremely passionate. He just wants to offer people in the area the choice of vegan/vegetarian, and even offers local students a 10% discount on the bill! But GREAT owners and employees, we felt very comfortable here.

Now onto the food. I am not a vegan - I'm not even a vegetarian. Though I think it's a great way to go and I love the food - so I go to places like this pretty often. The food was really really good. Take it from a meat eater like myself that it was just as good as anything else I could eat meat or not. I ordered "jumping for joy" fried rice. Yes, all their dish names can be confused with ads for Prozac - but that's a good thing.

Go here if you are near the area and want to try out a very clean, friendly, and tasty vegan place.

Greens Cafe is a true delight!  On my adventure in Vegetarian food, I found this place to have a great assortment of menu items that range from Asian to American.
Food:  I came here for dinner with my husband and we ordered the Crispy Stix (aka fish sticks) appetizer, Fried Rice, Won Ton soup (their adorable names escape me at the moment), and finished off with the flan. All of the items we ordered were delicious!  The fish sticks were hot and crispy, and the tartar sauce was sinfully tantalizing (is it really vegan?). The fried rice was a wonderful co-mingling of multi-grain rice and vegetables and topped with an addicting tofu cutlet. The won ton soup was very homey and soothed my soul; I especially loved the homemade wontons stuffed with mushrooms and tofu bits. For dessert, we had tofu flan - I never knew tofu could take on flan!  If you've ever had sweet tofu in syrup from Chinese restaurants, this would be a thicker version of it. I'd reorder it anyday.
Service:  Although there was only one server/host, he managed to please us. He was very courteous and informative. However, watch out when there are more than four tables eating; that was when we noticed the pace of service slow down.
In summary, the food here was highly enjoyed and the service was terrific up until it became busier. The prices were average priced for dinner (~$8 an entrée). All in all, I would highly recommend Greens Cafe for all audiences, vegan or not.

We had crispy stixs, crystal wraps, good luck noodle soup, rooftop spaghetti, and plum drink. Our favorites were the crispy stixs and crystal wraps. Usually vegetarian spring rolls are pretty boring, but these had at least 4-5 different vegetables and drief tofu (tofu gan) and were super thick and filling. The crispy stixs were really good and tasted like chicken. The servings here are pretty big so I was actually stuffed even though it was all veggies. The owner told us that he uses all organic vegetables.  They take their green - earth theme pretty seriously because even the soap in the bathroom was organic fair trade and the TVs in the restaurant were playing save the earth type of shows. Another plus is the restaurant is really clean.

Cool, my review will be above my friend, Edrees! We both obviously enjoyed it, hence the 5 stars. The place is bright, relaxing, and welcoming. Laurence definitely makes sure everyone that dines there has a great experience, thank you!

My favorite is the join-the-club sandwich. I've recommended this to numerous friends and they LOVE it. I had the embrace by light spaghetti and the first time was awesome, second time around lost its awesomeness. But that can be easily changed, what made it stand out from all the pastas I tried was the mushrooms -- deep and rich flavor. Can't wait to try it again to see if it will be like my first experience. Try the appetizers, they're all good.

OH, if anybody likes the salted plum asian candy that's encased in a hard sugar shell then get the roselle plum tea drink. The first sip I took was amazing because I was confused -- my tongue was blasted with something familiar in flavor, but my mind couldn't comprehend what it was until I heard the world "plum" again. If I lived closer, I'd probably stop by after work just for this refreshing drink...it's quite energizing -- though that could be my excitement that a hard candy could be in an addicting healthy liquid form.

Amazing! Went with a couple friends and everyone ordered different things so I got to sample a variety! My favorite! Anyway, the Oriental Noodle is really good if you're feeling for some stir fry noodle, but if you want some thing like pasta, you should definitely go for the Embrace By Light Spaghetti... amazing! Also, desserts are really good as far as vegan desserts go. Get the carrot cake! It's not too sweet, and is made of healthy ingredients. The cheesecake is probably better in Lemon vs. Chocolate though. Service is really good, and everyone is really friendly and open to talking about vegetarianism etc. :)

Not being a vegan, let alone a vegetarian, I was a bit skeptical even after getting suggestions from the owner/manager who is indeed friendly and from Sichuan hence the Chinese influence on the food.

4 stars for the food, but 5 overall simply for exceeding expectations.  The Joy Burger was surprisingly good (my favorite) as was the Jumping for Joy Fried Rice.  Their soy protein is flavored and sweetened which was also a hit for my 4 year-old son.  The Field Singer Salad was nice but not a surprise.  The plum ice tea is a bit sour and is actually a Chinese/Taiwanese preserved plum flavor.  I enjoyed it, but it will be a bit medicinal for those with Western palates.  The iced green tea had been brewed strong but wasn't bitter.

While waiting for my food, a table of likely vegans were nodding their heads with approval to one another.  We'll be heading back to try more on the menu and I've never said that...about a vegan place.

Don't be scared off because it's vegan/vegetarian! I came here for my birthday with some friends, and all the guys were extremely skeptical because of that, but at the end, they all reluctantly admitted that it wasn't "that bad." I tried all of my friends' dishes and everything was really good! I love this place and will be coming back. Plus, it's clean and the people are really nice. They gave me a free vegan muffin for my bday that was also really good.

First of all, I'm NOT a vegan, but the wife is a vegetarian...so, you guessed it...she basically had to drag me to Greens Cafe.  We actually found this place by doing a yelp search for vegetarian restaurants in Irvine, otherwise, it's not that easy to see from the street.  It's basically at the intersection of Jeffrey and Irvine Center Drive across the corner from IVC College (there's a 10% discount to all students)...which unfortunately didn't apply to us.

First of all, this place appears to be very clean, which is always a good thing.  We met the owner on our first visit and he was super-friendly.  He described how he was trying to bring a healthier style of eating (i.e. vegan and organic) to the folks in Irvine, but he was not by any means trying to preach his way of life.

Anyways, we've been to Greens on several occasions now.  All of the ingredients are super fresh and they do an outstanding job of making vegan food actually taste good.  Greens has got a mix of your standard vegetarian fare, but also has some tasty dishes that are asian influenced.  The eat-in menu is great since it has photos of the food next to the description, so you know what it looks like before you order.

We've tried a bunch of the items on the menu, but have to say we're big fans of the following:

*Crispy Stix - an appetizer that taste like a cross between chicken tenders and fish sticks.
*Joy Burger - is IMO the best thing on the menu; it tastes just like a chicken cutlet but is some kind of tofu meatless concoction with a breaded coating and fried in vegan oil (grape seed?) on a wheat bun with sauteed organic red onions, a tomato salsa, organic lettuce, and some kind of tangy sauce.  Great choice for those who are leery about vegan food like me.
*Join the Club sandwich - the Mrs. loves this veggie imitation of the classic club sandwich.  I'm not sure what they use, but the tofu slices actually taste like ham.
*Jumping for Joy Fried Rice - mixture of multi-grain rice, organic veggies, and topped with fried tofu cutlet.
*Passion Tofu Bowl - tastes exactly like the chinese mapo tofu dish, but uses some kind of tofu crumbles (taste like pork), soft tofu, organic peas, and a spicy garlic chili sauce that also comes with multi-grain rice.

For those who compare this to other establishments like the Veggie Grill...c'mon, Veggie Grill is a corporate chain.  Don't get me wrong, I like the Veggie Grill, but Greens Cafe is a mom and pop operation...it's like comparing your local pizza joint to Pizza Hut.  Unique, off-the-wall places like this are a dying breed, especially in Irvine...

This is a hidden little gem in the cookie-cutter, chain-restaurant maze that is Irvine.  Excellent vegan food, super-friendly owner/staff, relatively inexpensive, highly recommended.

Delicious, quick, and reasonably priced! Good addition to the area.

By Tracey C Tustin, CA

best: desserts. we tried the ice cream, flan, carrot cake, and cheesecake. all tasted amazing, and the flan and cheesecake were top-notch in terms of flavor and texture. the flan was even jiggly!

also tried: ocean delight golden noodles (veggie stir fry noodles - excellent), crispy sticks (excellent), crystal wraps with peanut sauce (very good).

atmosphere: very clean and modern. casual.

best for: an everyday meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner, or coffee and dessert. meeting up with friends, studying, birthday party (they can make vegan birthday cake)

portions: large! could have easily split the appetizer (crystal wraps), and the entree (ocean delight golden noodle). in fact, i shared the appetizer with two other people, and took half the noodles home.

deals: 10% off coupon: http://thegreenscafe.c...

this was my first visit to greens cafe. it's one of the best vegan restaurants i've tried in orange county - one that i will go back to again frequently, and one that non-vegans would like too. i also liked that everything they cook is organic.

the five owners of the restaurant are so friendly and sweet, and you can really tell that they pour their hearts into making this delicious food.

no complaints! i will definitely be back!

Vegetarians and especially vegans will really like this place.  I frequent the normal OC vegan restaurants... Veggie Grill, Native Foods, and Wheel of Life... and was looking for something new to try.  Greens Cafe definitely fit the bill.  I would highly recommend it.  They're fairly new, but have a really nice restaurant with great tasting vegan food and friendly staff.  The prices are reasonable and the serving sizes of the food are good (drinks could be bigger though).  Overall, I would highly recommend Greens Cafe.

Before I get to the food, I'll discuss the atmosphere.  Greens is well designed and feels very lighthearted inside.  It has a Veggie-Grill-esque type feel, for those that like Veggie Grill.  There's a huge graphic on the right wall with fruit, vegetables, and happy faces that gives the restaurant a fresh and happy feeling.

Like Wheel of Life, the menus have pictures of all the items, so you know what you're getting.  The restaurant is also VERY clean... a big plus in my opinion.  I was surprised how clean and well designed the restaurant was, and it more than exceeded my expectations in that sense.  The staff there are very nice and very helpful, and you can tell that they really care about your opinions and want to make the restaurant as good as possible.  The attention to detail in the decor and service shows, and was much appreciated.

Now on to the food.  All I can say is YUM!  It was so good that my girlfriend and I went two days in a row (I uploaded pictures of what we got, minus the drinks and chocolate chip banana muffin because I forgot to get pictures of those).  Overall the food is excellent, and I can easily see Greens becoming a staple in my diet. Here's what we got, and what we thought of it:

Join-The-Club Sandwich - This was my girlfriend's favorite, and I liked it a lot too.  Tastes like a ham, tomato, lettuce, and tofu sandwich on really good bread.  Recommended.

Gold Nuggets - This is on the kids menu, but I liked it anyhow.  They're just like chicken nuggets.  Really yummy.  Recommended.

Hot Snow Macaroni - My personal favorite.  Again, it's on the kids menu, but I think it's great for adults too.  It's been so long since I've had a decent alfredo pasta... so I really enjoyed this.  It doesn't have a nutritional yeast taste like many of the vegan alfredo dishes I've had.  It's just creamy and alfredo-y like it should be.  I wish I had the recipe for this one... I would make it all the time.  Highly recommended.

Crispy Stix - These come with a tartar sauce and taste a lot like Fish Sticks.  I've never been a huge fish fan, but they were good, and if I liked fish then I would have absolutely loved them.

Friendship Sandwich - This was the only thing we got that we didn't like.  It looks so good on the menu, but unfortunately it just didn't live up to its looks.  It has way too much vegan mayonnaise on it, so unless you really like mayonnaise I'd stay away from this one.

Organic Mixed Fruit Smoothie - I didn't try this, but my girlfriend said it was excellent.  Be aware that their drinks are very small though, so don't expect a huge smoothie when you order this.

Organic Banana Soy Milk Shake - Really, really good.  Tasted like an explosion of banana happiness.  Their drinks are small, but really good.

Cheesecake - Get this.  Enough said.

Carrot Cake - Again, get it.  I prefer the cheesecake, but the carrot cake was extremely good as well.

Banana chocolate chip muffin - Get this too.  All 3 of the desserts we had were A++++.  Just get them, you won't regret it.  The only thing you would regret would be going to Greens Cafe and not getting dessert.

So that about sums it up... great food, great staff, great atmosphere, and great prices.  5 stars.  A must-try for Irvine/OC vegetarians and vegans.

WHAT? Temptation Vegan Ice Cream from chicago soy dairy, and Teese Vegan cheese also from chicago . wow. I believe this is the first place in southern cali to carry tempation. I just tried the chocolate, it was really good. i've eaten there a couple times in the last few days. Everything has been really good. the crispy sticks and the jumpin for joy fried rice were both awesome.

This is the BEST organic vegan restaurant I've ever eaten at!!
I ordered Fun Stix, Yum Yums (Sweet potato fries), and Joy Burger

1) Everything was so flavorful!! From the ingredients to the sauces, it was really good.
2) Portions were good. Kept me full.
3) Friendly, Family-owned.

Sitting here tapping at the lettered plastic, I'm as delightfully stuffed as a toy panda, but I keep thinking about the leftovers in the fridge.  This signals a couple of key things.

1. This food was delicious.
Knock-out, drag-down tasty, as if your skeptical omnivore crush was showing up at a potluck and you really needed them to enjoy their meal so that you would have a chance at seducing them while they were blissfully food-comatose.  I'm not even into meat analogs, usually, but every variety of faux-meat was great (and with an unheimlich chewiness).  The sauces were fresh and well-balanced.  Every part of every dish was spot-on.

2. The portions were huge.
I'm a good eater.  A really good eater.  Every time I visit home, my mom struggles to tactfully (she uses hand gestures, seriously) imply that I'm bulimic (just because I moved to SoCal...), because I can put away such enormous amounts of food and come back for more.  But this place dishes out honestly generous amounts of food.  I mean, I'll still polish the rest off later tonight, but that's impressive.

The space is bright and airy, the part-owner was incredibly friendly and loquacious, and the prices were reasonable, and actually cheap considering that it's organic as well as vegan.

I'm actually so thankful that I found it that I'm having early relationship jitters, afraid that it will leave me.  Go there.  Bring your friends, family, even your omni crush.  You won't regret it.

First time there today, i enjoyed the carrot cake and the vegan chocolate cheese cake. I'll try out some asian dish next time, it looks delicious. Peace

So we heard there was a new Vegan cafe here in Irvine and stopped to check it out.  We're already big fans of Wheel of Life, Native Foods & Veggie Grill so we're fully ready for some more options.  This place was clean and just feels fresh with the colorful design and artwork.  The owner was very nice and was happy to talk and answer questions.

The food was a mix of traditional Asian and very interesting variations of Italian and American dishes.  Everything we tasted was excellent and just felt healthy.  We were told the ingredients were all organic including their teas and coffee.

Even if your not vegetarian you will seriously love this place.  Trust me, you won't know your missing any meat and your heart will love you for it!
